Protecting your data

JS World Media (hereinafter referred to as “JS”, “we”, “us” and “our”) complies with the GDPR to protect personal data.

Below, you can read more about how we fulfill our responsibilities as a data controller.

Our role in protecting your data

At JS, we take our responsibility to protect our customers’ data seriously, and therefore we continue to stay compliant with, and up to date on, GDPR legislation.

In consultation with the renowned law firm Bech-Bruun (Denmark) we have ensured legal compliance and legal certainty. Based on their legal assessment, JS World Media qualifies as a data controller pursuant to Art. 4(7) of the GDPR, and not as a data processor.

This assessment is formed on the basis that JS World Media makes all major decisions about the purpose and scope of processing of data, and that the customer does not influence the data processing.

Our responsibilities as a data controller

A company that works with personal data is either a data processor or a data controller.

At JS, we are data controllers. As data controllers, our main service is to solve a specific task for our customers that does not involve processing personal data. Specifically, we produce and publish professional communication packages for our customers and acquire advertisers on their behalf. Therefore, the parties involved should not sign a Data Processing Agreement (DPA).

In our role as a data controller, we comply with all legal requirements.

On the other hand, a data processor’s main service is to process personal data on behalf of a customer. Data processors receive data from the customer, refine and secure it, and then return the data to the customer. JS is not a data processor.

JS as a data controller

As a data controller, JS is responsible for ensuring that personal data in your communication package is handled lawfully, securely and transparently. At the same time, you retain decisive control over your material and what is ultimately used and published.

The points below show how this works in practice.

4

✅ Your communication package follows a compliant data-protection setup

JS is responsible for designing and following a compliant setup for handling personal data in your communication package. That means you don’t have to give JS detailed instructions on how personal data is handled.
4

✅ Your communication package is our core service

JS’s main role is to create and distribute communication packages that present your organization. Any use of personal data (for example names or images of employees) happens only as part of this service and, as stated in our Cooperation Agreement, to show the finished package as a reference.
4

✅ You set the direction – JS ensures compliance

You share your knowledge of your organization and approve the content along the way. Based on that, JS plans and produces the communication package under its own editorial and creative responsibility. That means JS remains responsible for how personal data is handled and for compliance with data protection law.
4

✅ You control permissions for visual material

You decide whether photos, videos or other visual material with identifiable people may be recorded or used in your communication package. When such material is included, you are responsible for ensuring that the necessary consents under data protection law are in place. JS does not collect these consents and never records or uses such material on its own initiative – we only use it when you have requested it and confirmed that permissions are in place.
4

✅ Your material and data are safe

JS only uses your material and personal data for your communication package and agreed references. There are no secondary use and no disclosure of your material and data to third parties beyond what is necessary to produce and deliver your package and any agreed references. Nothing is published without your approval, and we keep your material and data safe with strict security measures. You can always ask us to stop using or remove material.
4

✅ Your website data stays with your own providers

When JS supports you with web development, we design and implement your website, but we do not access or handle personal data about your website visitors on your behalf. Any personal data collected through hosting, cookies or analytics is processed directly by your chosen providers under your own agreements with them.
